Editorial Policy & Methodology
Last updated: April 2026
Formation.Legal is engineered to be the definitive decision engine for non-US founders entering the US ecosystem. To achieve this, we adhere to a strict editorial policy.
1. Independence First
Our research and editorial team operates entirely independently from our revenue and partnership teams.
- No Pay-to-Play: Providers cannot pay for higher ratings, better placements in the Route Planner, or removal of negative facts.
- Data-Driven Reality: We prioritize operational reality over marketing claims. If a provider claims "guaranteed bank accounts" but our research shows a 40% rejection rate for non-residents, we publish the 40% rejection rate.
2. The Route-Based Methodology
We do not believe in "Best Overall LLC Services". A service that is perfect for a US resident might be catastrophic for a non-US resident who needs an EIN without an ITIN and a physical bank account.
Our methodology evaluates providers, states, and entity types based on specific routes (e.g., Country + Business Model + Payment Goal).
3. Trust Layer & Source Logs
We believe in showing our work. Where possible, we publish the underlying source logs, state statutes, and test results that inform our guides in the /research section. Every guide includes metadata detailing its originality, AI-assistance level, and the specific author or researcher responsible for the content.
4. Updates and Corrections
US corporate compliance (like the CTA/BOI reporting rules) and banking regulations change rapidly. We actively monitor these changes. When a material change occurs that affects our recommendations, we update our guides and Route Planner logic, logging the changes clearly.
If you spot an inaccuracy in our research, we want to know. Please contact our editorial team.
